Welcome to our HEDGEHOGS AVAILABLE web page. This page is designed to
highlight some of the hedgies that we have available for sale at the current time.

Originally we designed this page to showcase some of our PINTO COLOR patterns.

is well known in the hedgehog community for our exceptionally flashy

and well-marked PINTO HEDGEHOGS. Like pinto horses, each animal is
slightly different and unique. By using this page to post the pictures of some
of our PINTO "kids", we felt that our customers would have a better idea of
what marvelous color patterns are available.

Now that this page is available, we have decided to use it to post pictures of
other animals that we currently have in stock also. Check back often, as the
pictures and listings on this page will be constantly changing.

We will make every effort to keep the postings on this page current. However, since we have
full time jobs in addition to the hedgehog care responsibilities, it is
IMPORTANT THAT YOU CALL to confirm the availability of animals listed on this page.

PLEASE NOTE:
1) Most of our hedgehogs are sold locally.
2) When sold locally, they are generally
between 7-9 weeks of age.
3) If you are out of the area, and will need for us to ship your hedgie via the airlines, we will not ship them until they are 8-10 weeks (due to the additional stress). So keep in mind that your wait time will be a tad longer than if you are willing to drive to the Chicago suburbs to pick him up.
4) We sell our baby hedgehogs to
PET HOMES ONLY.
(Please no breeder or dealer calls).

Our 14+ years of raising wonderful little hedgies, and the customer referals that come with our reputation, have meant that most of our hedgies are sold to folks through our WAITING LIST, rather than through this page.
Here at HEDGEHOGS by Vickie we are continuously endeavoring to match up individual baby hedgies with families that are the right fit for each other.
Please realize that the length of time that you will have to wait for your new baby hedgehog will be minimized if you are open to a variety of quill colors, eye colors, sexes and price ranges. The more versitile you are, the shorter your wait!

Currently, our average waiting time is 4-6 weeks. The common Standard color hedgehogs generally have the longest wait. Since WE are more fascinated with the fancier colored animals, that is what we tend to produce more of. And we like to mix up our pairings so that we have a few animals of a variety of colors being born at any given time.
We suggest that you spend some time on our COLORS PAGE and determine which hedgehog colors would be appealing to you.
We encourage you to contact us as soon as possible to be placed on our WAITING LIST.

It has been an looong cold SPRING in Chicago. But the calander is saying SUMMER, and we are READY here at HEDGEHOGS by Vickie! This is our busiest time since it is the traditional Breeding Season.
Although we have litters born year round, Summer is always our favorite season for bouncy baby hedgies!!!!!!
We always get lots of requests for baby hedgies this time of year.
If you will be wanting to take advantage of the lazy Summer days to bond with your new hedgehog, we suggest that you discuss your preferences with us as soon as possible!
This will help ensure that you are first in line for the hedgie that is right for you!!!!!!

Listed below are colors & price ranges of some hedgehogs that we anticipate to be coming available early to mid SUMMER.
PLEASE NOTE: The images and discriptions do not apply to specific animals. Rather it is our best estimate of animals in current or up coming litters that are
NOT ALREADY SPOKEN FOR,
and may be available soon .

SNOWFLAKES
SNOWFLAKES are a pattern, rather than a color. The amimal has a BASE color which consists of a banded quill.
(The animal in this example is a CINNAMON SNOWFLAKE). Mixed throughout the base color quills are solid WHITE quills. Hence the name SNOWFLAKE. SNOWFLAKE hedgies appear to have a pretty "frosted" look to them. SNOWFLAKES will have different degrees of SNOWFLAKE intensity.
Heavy SNOWFLAKES will cost slightly more.
Base Color will also affect the price.
Most of our SNOWFLAKES fall in the $225-275 range

APPRICOTS
APRICOTS are our pretty little "PASTEL" hedgehogs. They have a subtle tinge of peachy orange hue to their base color quills.
Some APRICOTS exhibit very RICH color....while others are more PALE.

Since we are interested in breeding lots of SNOWFLAKES & PINTOS here at HEDGEHOGS by Vickie, we frequently have APRICOTS in these fancier combination patterns!
APRICOT hedgies start around $175
The APRICOT SNOWFLAKES & APRICOT PINTOS are priced slightly higher.

PINTO HEDGEHOGS
PINTOS are our specialty!!! And each one is uniquely different. The PINTO pattern consists of random splashes of WHITE patches on top of the base color quills. PINTOS can have minimal patterns consisting of only one small blotch ......or they can be extemely flashy....like our famous high white TOBIANO strain of PINTO hedgies!!!!
Some even exhibit a combination of the SNOWFLAKE pattern with the PINTO spots
(like the cutie in this example)!!!!!
Considering the endless possibilities, our PINTOS range from $225-$450.

DARK EYED WHITE HEDGEHOGS
This is the ultimate verson of a SNOWFLAKE.
It is a SNOWFLAKE hedgehog with a 90+% of WHITE quills. DARK EYED WHITES have
Dark Eyes, Dark Ears, Dark Muzzle, Dark Skin....BUT GLEAMING WHITE QUILLS!!!!
The contrast is striking!
Once you behold a DARK EYED WHITE in real life...you just gotta fall in love...
WE CERTAINLY DID!!!!
DARK EYED WHITES can vary in color from a VERY HEAVY SNOWFLAKE with some dark base color quills....all the way to the rare true PLATINUM.
DARK EYED WHITES are priced $250 to $450 depending on the intensity.
